The Application Period for Short-Term Working Allowance Has Been Extended

The Presidential Decree No. 3238 ("Decree"), which entered into force with the publication in the Official Gazette dated 1 December 2020 and numbered 31321, extended the application period for short-term working applications to 31 December 2020 due to Covid-19.

As it is known, the deadline for the application period for the short-term working was set as 30 June 2020. However, employers who have not applied for the short-term working is able to apply to the Turkish Employment Institution between 1 December 2020 and 31 December 2020 with this Decree. It is worth noting that short-term working allowance to be provided will not be deducted from the unemployment benefit period.

Moreover, employers who have applied for the short-term working allowance due to Covid-19 will also be able to claim short-term work allowance for additional workers between 1 December 2020 and 31 December 2020.
